Positive News - Recognition of residents/students & positive comments of our residents

It's that time of year again! The Spelling Bee for 2010-2011. I am recognizing again this year the hard work and great efforts many students made.  Grades 4-8 already held their classroom spelling bees, and school-wide spelling bee.  The winners of that will move on to the District-wide spelling bee to be held on January 6th, 2011 at the Hackett Middle School at 10:15 am. It has been narrowed down to 14 students. The winner and runners-up will move on to the Regional Spelling Bee date and time to be announced. Congratulations to all those students who entered the Spelling Bee, and to those winners.  See you at Hackett Middle School. Go students.

Update:  For the Second Year in a row Benzie Johnson, Jr. won the Albany City School District Spelling Bee.  He is the #1 winner.  He and 6 others will move on to represent Albany at the Regional Spelling Bee at Proctor's Theater on Feb. 9th starting at 5:00pm.

The other finishers are: Ivory Anderson, Grade 5, ASH; Kitty Sharp, Grade 8, Hackett; Tamera Thomas, Grade 5, Philip Schuyler Achievement Academy; Gavin Wolfgang, Grade 5, New Scotland Elementary School; Matthew Flynn, Grade 5, Thomas O'Brien Academy of Science and Technology; Treisy V.
